Chinese-Style BBQ Spareribs

6 inches fresh ginger, peeled and sliced thin

8 garlic cloves

1 cup honey

3/4 cup hoisin sauce

3/4 cup soy sauce

1/2 cup rice wine

2 tsp chinese 5-spice powder

1 tsp red food coloring If you want it

1 tsp ground white pepper

2 pounds boneless port spareribs

2 tbls sesame oil

Finely chop ginger and garlic

In a duch oven add ginger, garlic, honey, hoisin, soy, 1/2 water, rice wine, 5-spice powder, pepper, and food coloring if using. Whisk to combine

Add ribs and coat

Bring to simmer and cook 1 hour stirring occasionally.

Remove meat, and strain the liquid

Reduce the liquid in a pot on stove to reduce to a syrup

Pre-heat oven to 425

Coat ribs with Syrup

Roast ribs in oven till caramelized 5-7 minutes
